About R Baby Foundation

Q: When and why was R Baby established?
A: R Baby Foundation was established in 2006 to organize and fund efforts to improve the outcomes of medical care for infants, particularly those who contract certain viral infections within the first few months of life. Andrew and Phyllis Rabinowitz founded RBF after losing their baby, Rebecca Ava, when she was only nine days old.

Q: I registered for the event last year. Can I use my login information from last year?
A: No, last year's login information will not work. Please create a new profile for the 2010 website.

Q: What has R Baby accomplished to date?
A: Because of the support of people like you, R Baby Foundation has raised close to $3 million and has been able to fund cutting-edge research grants such as pediatric emergency room fellowship and training programs, a laboratory that detects viral infections quickly and many others. Click here to read about the grants we have distributed over the past two years.

Q: Who runs R Baby Foundation?
A: Click here to see our Executive Board and Committees.

Q: Where can I learn more about R Baby?
A: Visit our Foundation's website at www.rbabyfoundation.org.

Q: Is my donation tax-deductible?
A: Yes. R Baby Foundation is a not-for-profit public charity recognized by the IRS under 501(c)(3). All donations are 100% tax-deductible unless otherwise stated. Everybody who makes a donation through the website using a credit card will instantly receive an email tax letter. Everybody who makes a donation by check will receive a tax letter by mail within 4 months of the event. Keep in mind that registration fees are not donations. The registration fee goes toward New York Road Runners' administrative costs. We hope that you will make a donation to R Baby in addition to the registration fee when you sign up for our event.

About the Event

Q: What is the R Mothers program?
A: The R Mothers program is an opportunity to recognize a special mother to be part of this honorable group of women who have gone over and above for their families, communities and/or workplace and who share R Baby's goal of quality pediatric emergency healthcare for all our future families. Anybody can nominate or become an R Mother. Click here for more information.

Q: Besides participating in the Run/Walk, how can people help?
A: You can:

Q: What is "Virtual Walk?"
A: The "Virtual Walk" is a way for people who cannot attend the Run/Walk to participate from near or far. The sign up menu on the "Register Now" page includes an option to sign up for the "Virtual Walk." This option allows you to create a page on the R Baby site where you can share your story, post a picture or video, and invite your friends to sign up or donate. The fundraising page allows you to share your passion for the cause and rally your friends and family to support it. Consider signing up for the "Virtual Walk" if you attend the family festival or if you have a prior engagement on Mother's Day and cannot join us at all or if you live far away and cannot make it to NYC.

Q: What if we cannot afford to make a cash contribution but wish to volunteer our time?
A: R Baby is seeking volunteers to help on the day of the Run/Walk, as well as people to help organize teams, distribute flyers, stuff envelopes and mail letters prior to the Run/Walk. We are also seeking to add Board Members and Event Committee Members. Please email info@rbabyfoundation.org and tell us how you want to help!

Q: Where in Central Park will the event be held?
A: Walk into Central Park through the 72nd Street Transverse from either Central Park West or 5th Ave. There will be signs leading people to the festival area with race day packet pick up, participant t-shirts, and family fun activities. The bandshell (festival location) is located across the road from Bethesda Fountain off the transverse. If people want to go directly to the start of the race or walk they should enter the park at 72nd Street Transverse and just head south toward the start line near East 68th Street.

Q: Where can I find information about the activities on Mother's Day?
A: The Event Info page has the most up-to-date information about activities, celebrities, the schedule of the day and number pickup. You can access it by clicking the Event Info link in the left-hand navigation menu.

About the Website

Q: Am I supposed to register using rbabyrunwalk.org or nyrr.org?
A: You can register through our site or the New York Road Runner site, however, we encourage you to use the R Baby site. If you use our site, you will automatically be added to our database to receive information about R Baby Foundation and upcoming events. Also, you will be able to create a personal profile page and invite your friends to join your team.

Q: What should I do after I register?
A: Get started by spreading the word and fundraising! Add your picture and a short story to your profile page by clicking "Edit my Profile" on the left-hand navigation menu. Send an email to your friends and family that explains why you have joined the cause and include a link to your profile page so your friends can donate and sign up also. Take a look at our "Fundraising Tips" on the left-hand navigation menu for inspiration on how to raise more money for the cause.

Q: How can I sign my child up for the Kids' Fun Run? The website is asking for an email address, but my child doesn't have an email address.
A: You can make up an email address for your child. Use your child's full name and add @karma411.com. This will be the unique login for your child, so remember it. No identifying information will be sent to this email address.

Q: I already paid to register. Why is the site asking for a donation to R Baby?
A: Unfortunately, the registration fee you paid covers administration costs. We encourage you to make a donation on top of the registration fee to help R Baby Foundation save babies' lives. All donations are tax-deductible.

Q: How do I access my fundraising page?
A: Everybody who registers for the run/walk through www.rbabyrunwalk.org has a fundraising page. Login on the homepage with your email address and password that you created. Click "View my Profile" or "Edit my Profile" in the left-hand navigation menu. This fundraising page is what people see when they search for you on the R Baby Run/Walk website so make sure to upload a photo and add some text about why you are supporting R Baby.

Q: What's the difference between my profile and my team page?
A: Everybody who signs up on the R Baby Run Walk site has a fundraising page. This page is your individual portal to tell everybody why you support R Baby. You can access it anytime by logging on and then clicking on "My Profile" in the left-hand navigation menu. A team page is a page that others can join. Create a team with your family and friends in honor of your baby, your mother, your child, or somebody who has fought for pediatric rights. Team pages must be created by somebody, unlike personal pages, which are automatically generated for every person. You can start a team at anytime by clicking the "Start a team" button on the left-hand navigation menu. Once you've started or joined a team, you will be able to view your team page from the left-hand navigation menu.

Q: How can I leave a team?
A: When you first login, you are taken to a page with the heading "My Home." If you scroll down, you will see the team you are currently part of listed as well as an option to leave that team.

Q: What are the tabs appearing on top of my profile?
A: There are several tabs on top of your profile that give you various options.

Stories: You can use the "stories" feature like a mini-blog. Post updates to your team about your fundraising, share stories about your children or your parents, post pictures of your baby, or write poems about the event.
Supporters: This is a list of people who have donated to R Baby from your profile page. It keeps a running total of how much money you have raised.
Map us: This neat feature shows a map of your supporters.
Communication: This tab allows you to view emails you've already sent to your friends and see a list of people who've opted out of receiving your emails.
